Plan Your Business

Detailing isn’t just detailing it’s a business first. You need to focus on how you’re going to get your customers rather than how you get a stain out of the carpet.

Now, it’s good to know how to clean your customers car, but base that on the fact that you need customer satisfaction for future business rather than just getting it done and paid. Also with car detailing experience, you gain confidence to be able to help more people and even expand your market to higher-end vehicles or business-to-business work like a car lot or trucking company.

When you first start off, you’ll take some time to practice on a few cars and use the detailing knowledge you acquired to bring a brand new shine to the cars. But the tough part is the business side and here’s a checklist that you can use to get started:

  1. Choose a Business Name and Check for Availability
  2. Decide the Structure: Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLC
  3. Register the Necessary Paperwork – State Requirements, Registration Documents, General Business License, Special Permits, Zoning Approval
  4. Obtain an EIN (Employer Identification Number)
